Cantora. Compositora. Nasceu em Londrina, onde morou até os dois anos. A família, logo depois, transferiu-se para Recife, passando na capital pernambucana a adolescência. Em 1987 formou-se em psicologia pela Universidade Cristã de Nova York -NYACK College. Poliglota, fala francês, inglês, espanhol e italiano. Em 1994 casou-se com Edson Arantes do Nascimento, o rei Pelé, com que teve três filhos: Gemima, Joshuá e Celeste. Em 2000 lançou o CD "O Amor Verdadeiro", no qual foram incluídos hinos tradicionais, relembrados do tempo em que acompanhava a mãe (Gemina Seixas Lemos) nos cultos da Igreja Batista. Deste CD destacou-se o clássico internacional "Amazing grace", executado em várias emissoras gospel por todo o país. No ano seguinte, lançou o CD "Ao Mundo Deus Amou", do qual destacaram-se as faixas "Teu perdão", feita em parceria com Kléber Lucas, e a faixa-título "Ao mundo Deus amou", ambas muito executadas em emissoras segmentadas no mercado gospel. No ano de 2002, convidada por Brian Hardin, gravou em Nashville, Tenesse (EUA), o CD "Assíria", com canções interpretadas em inglês, sendo considerada a primeira cantora gospel brasileira a lançar um disco deste gênero nos Estados Unidos. Em 2003, como a primeira cantora gospel contratada pela gravadora Som Livre, lançou o CD "Novo Tempo". No disco, produzido por Aramis Barros, foram incluídos clássicos nacionais e internacionais do segmento gospel: "Salmo 126", "Draw me close to you" (Traz-me junto a ti), "Que seria de mi" (O que seria de mim), "Open the eyes of my heart" (Abra os olhos do meu coração), "Como se cura uma herida" (Como se cura uma ferida), "Breathe" (Ar para o meu viver), "I can sing of your love forever" (Cantarei teu amor para sempre) e "I will be here", versão para "Aqui estarei". Em 1969, formou, juntamente com outros jovens músicos cearenses, um grupo chamado "Pessoal do Ceará". Viajou para o sul do país. Em 1972, a cantora Eliana Pittman lançou a composição "Beira-mar" com a qual fez algum sucesso. Em 25 anos de carreira compôs mais de 250 músicas e letras, lançando 12 discos, além de quatro trilhas sonoras de filmes. Apareceu para o grande público nos anos 1970, quando sua composição "Pavão misterioso" foi incluída como tema de abertura da novela "Saramandaia", de Dias Gomes, pela TV Globo. Em 1973, gravou com Rodger, Teti e o arranjador Hareton Salvanini o LP "Meu corpo, minha embalagem, todo gasto na viagem", pela Continental. Em 1975, participou do Festival Abertura com a música "Vaila", em parceria com Brandão. Fez a música e o clip de encerramento da novela "Tocaia grande", de Walter Avancini, pela TV Manchete, nos anos 1990. No cinema, fez trilhas para os filmes "Luiza homem", de Fábio Barreto, em que também atua no papel de um poeta de cordel, e para os filmes "Tigipió" e "Calor da pele", ambos de Pedro Jorge. Dirigiu, musicou e fez o roteiro de "Cauim", apresentado em todos os shows de sua turnê de 1978/79. Participou, também, dos especiais de TV "Ednardo - Ceará Quatro Estações", escolhido como melhor vídeo artístico musical pela Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Ceará, e "Ednardo especial", apresentados pela TV E e pela TV Manchete. Entre os grandes sucessos de Ednardo estão"Terral", "Pavão misterioso", "Artigo 26", "A manga rosa", "Beir-mar", "Carneiro", "Enquanto engomo a calça" e "Rubi". Em 2002, gravou com Belchior e Amelinha o CD "Pessoal do Ceará", produzido por Robertinho do Recife, no qual constaram antigas composições suas como "Artigo 26" e "Pavão misterioso", além da inédita "Mote, Tom e Radar". Carioca, desde pequeno ouvia música soul e funk, inclinando-se mais tarde para o rock, de que tornou-se profundo conhecedor na época. Participou como vocalista da banda Kabbalah, de hard rock, com influências de Deep Purple, Black Sabbath e outras bandas dos anos 70. Ainda na adolescência abandona os estudos para dedicar-se à música, agora fascinado pela música negra. Foi DJ e escreveu um fanzine sobre o assunto, até conhecer, em meados dos anos 80, o guitarrista Comprido, com quem mais tarde formou o Conexão Japeri, e gravou o primeiro disco, em 1988. Daí vieram os primeiros sucessos nacionais, "Vamos Dançar" e "Manuel". Logo em seguida desligou-se do grupo e partiu para a carreira solo, em que pôde desenvolver seu próprio estilo, ligado à musicalidade dos sons produzidos pela voz, mesmo sem letras, fugindo do que considera "a ditadura da letra" na música. Em 1990 morou em Nova York por um ano e lá gravou um disco com músicos americanos. Descobriu os universos da MPB e da música erudita, o acabou se refletindo na sua concepção musical. De volta ao Brasil, compôs algumas músicas em parceria com Aldir Blanc, compôs a trilha do filme "Pequeno Dicionário Amoroso" e excursionou pelo exterior. Em 1997 lançou o CD "Manual Prático para Festas, Bailes e Afins, Vol. 1", com repertório dançante, mas não se desvinculou de seu compromisso com o jazz e a música tradicional brasileira, apresentando em 2000 o show "Músicas Antigas e Algumas Inéditas". No começo do ano 2002, lança "Dwitza", o trabalho mais jazzy e introspectivo de sua carreira, diversificando como poucos sua produção musical. Em 2005, Ed Motta lança “Aystelum” no qual o artista mantém sua marca registrada: experimentação de estilos e a sofisticação harmônica.
