Faith No More foi uma banda de rock norte-americana formada em São Francisco, Califórnia em 1981 e é considerada um dos maiores grupos de rock dos anos 1990, e entre as canções suas de maior sucesso estão "Epic" e "Falling to Pieces" do disco The Real Thing (1989), "Midlife Crisis" e "Easy", cover do grupo americano The Commodores, as duas do álbum Angel Dust (1992), além de outro sucesso, a canção "Ashes To Ashes" do álbum Album of the Year de 1997. O estilo musical é de difícil categorização, muitos dizem que foram eles que criaram o nu metal visto que a banda possui uma série de vertentes e gêneros distintos, como punk, jazz, funk, heavy metal, rap, samba, polka, easy listening e pop. Banda de alternative rock, formada em 1994 em Londres, Inglaterra. Os membros fundadores foram o belga, Brian Molko (vocalista e guitarrista) e o sueco, Stefan Olsdal (baixista). Devido a diferentes origens (Bélgica, Suécia, Luxemburgo, Inglaterra e Suíça) dos integrantes que formam/formaram o Placebo, este é considerado uma banda Européia. Depois de uma pequena apresentação juntos em Luxemburgo, eles tiveram certeza que deveriam formar uma banda. Nesse mesmo ano, convidaram o baterista Genebrense e amigo de Stefan, Robert Schultzberg, dando origem à Ashtray Heart. Já em 1995, o nome mudou para Placebo. A banda começou a ganhar projeção, e em novembro daquele ano lançou seu primeiro single. Nesse período, eles abriam shows para grandes bandas e faziam pequenos shows para sua divulgação. Por falta de cumplicidade entre Robert e Brian, o baterista acabou deixando a banda em 1996, e foi nesse momento que eles convidaram Steve Hewitt, amigo de Brian desde de 1991. Steve já havia tocado algumas vezes com Brian e Stefan anteriormente, porém não pôde participar da formação inicial da banda por ser integrante do Breed. Gravaram o primeiro álbum intitulado Placebo em 1996, e logo alcançaram um enorme sucesso pela Europa, por onde já estavam fazendo a própria turnê. Nesse início de carreira, o Placebo chegou a abrir shows para David Bowie. A história do Falamansa é recheada de peculiaridades. A começar do nome da banda, que nasceu por puro acidente, num lance de extrema criatividade. Em 1996, Ricardo Cruz, o Tato, saiu de Piracicaba, interior de São Paulo, indo para a capital estudar publicidade. Acabou se apaixonando pelo forró. Decidiu participar de um festival de música da Universidade Mackenzie. Quando foi fazer a inscrição, deparou-se com uma sala onde todos falavam alto. Ao deixar um cassete com a canção, o responsável pelas inscrições lhe perguntou o nome da banda que a interpretaria. Ante o burburinho da sala, imediatamente veio a resposta: Falamansa. Mas o Falamansa propriamente dito não existia. Tato, que já cantava e tocava violão, tratou de arregimentar músicos que pudessem participar com ele do festival. Chamou, então, Douglas Capaldo, o Alemão, zabumbeiro dos bons, com quem dividia as funções de DJ no KVA, reduto do forró universitário na capital paulista. Alemão, por sua vez, convocou André Canonico, o Dezinho, que entrou no triângulo e percussão. Acabaram tirando o segundo lugar no concurso, mesmo com poucos ensaios. Mas faltava um sanfoneiro. Encontraram, então, Josivaldo Silva, que adotara o nome artístico de Valdir do Acordeon. Estava formado o Falamansa. [Fonte: lastfm]
