Nascida no Maranhão, Seu pai, o respeitado repentista Luís Costa, era compositor de bumba-meu-boi e classificou, por diversas vezes, o "Boi de Maioba", grupo existente em São Luiz. Cresceu envolvida por esse ambiente, já que sua mãe, Neuza Ribeiro, mesmo após a separação de seu pai, gostava de cantar as toadas do bumba-meu-boi. Sempre atraída pela música, na adolescência, admirava artistas como Gordurinha, Jackson do Pandeiro, Dalva de Oliveira, Emilinha Borba, Carmem Costa e Nelson Gonçalves. Começou a compor aos quinze anos de idade. Mudou-se para o Rio de Janeiro no final dos anos 1950/60, com seus irmãos, a mãe a a avó, onde constituiu família e iniciou a carreira artística, já depois de casada. Apesar da oposição do marido a essa atividade, motivo pelo qual teve seu casamento acabado, ficando com quatro filhos, que criou sozinha, trabalhando com decorações, sem jamais abandonar sua paixão pela música. No início da década de 1970, passou a morar na cidade de Duque de Caxias, município fluminense. Em 2012, ganhou a causa junto ao INPI (Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial), pela utilização exclusiva do nome artístico Rita Ribeiro, então também utilizado por outra cantora. Provou que já o utilizava desde 1975, quando iniciou a carreira artística, e que, portanto, era a verdadeira detentora desse nome e autora do clássico "Minha Rainha", encerrando as confusões sobre a autoria do mesmo. Eric Patrick Clapton nasceu em Ripley, Inglaterra. Ganhou sua primeira guitarra aos 13 anos e se interessou pelo Blues americano de artistas como Robert Johnson e Muddy Waters. Apelidado de Slowhand, é considerado um dos melhores guitarristas do mundo. O reconhecimento de Clapton só começou quando entrou no “Yardbirds”, banda inglesa de grande influência que teve o mérito de reunir três dos maiores guitarristas de todos os tempos em sua formação: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck e Jimmy Page. Apesar do sucesso que o grupo fazia, Clapton não admitia abandonar o Blues e, em sua opinião, o Yardbirds estava seguindo uma direção muito pop. Sai do grupo em 1965, quando John Mayall convida-o a juntar-se à sua banda, os “Blues Breakers”. Gravam o álbum “Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton”, mas o relacionamento com Mayall não era dos melhores e Clapton deixa o grupo pouco tempo depois. Em 1966, forma o “Cream” com o baixista Jack Bruce e o baterista Ginger Baker. Com a gravação de 4 álbuns (“Fresh Cream”, “Disraeli Gears”, “Wheels Of Fire” e “Goodbye”) e muitos shows em terras norte americanas, o Cream atingiu enorme sucesso e Eric Clapton já era tido como um dos melhores guitarristas da história. A banda se separa no fim de 1968 devido ao distanciamento entre os membros da banda. Neste mesmo ano, Clapton a convite de seu amigo George Harisson, toca na faixa “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” do White Album dos Beatles. Forma o “Blind Faith” em 1969 com Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker e Rick Grech, que durou por pouco tempo, lançando apenas um album. A banda recebeu o nome de Blind Faith pois Clapton gostaria de recriar a The Band na Inglaterra, ao mesmo tempo via isto como uma “fé cega”. A banda de apoio do Blind Faith era liderada por um casal do sul dos EUA, eram conhecidos como Delaney & Bonnie. A musica desta banda seduz Clapton a deixar sua banda e se juntar ao que se formaria como Delaney & Bonnie and Friends. Um álbum ao vivo da turnê com Delaney & Bonnie é lançado em 1970 e no mesmo ano saiu o primeiro álbum solo do guitarrista.
