O Waysted foi um ambicioso projeto que visava ganhar uma parte do novo mercado que estava se abrindo, o hoje chamado hard oitentista. O mentor e cabeça do projeto foi Pete Way, lendário baixista do UFO. A idéia surgiu quando Pete foi convidado a participar do projeto de Eddie Clarke, ex-Motorhead que estava montando uma banda de hard rock no melhor estilo comercial. Pete percebeu o quanto a idéia era boa e decidiu formar a sua própria banda, onde ele poderia dar as cartas. A banda deles se chamaria Fastway. Apesar de Pete abandonar a idéia, a banda de Eddie Clarke continuou se chamando Fastway e a de Pete curiosamente se chamou Waysted. Ao contrário do Fastway, o Waysted despontou na Inglaterra com o tecladista Paul Raymond (Ex-UFO), o batera Frank Noon (ex-Def Leppard) e o vocalista Ian Muir. Não tardou para a banda conseguir uma gravadora. A Chrysallis ofereceu um contrato para um disco experimental. “Vices” (1983), trazia bons momentos como “Toy with the Passion” e o cover de “Somebody to Love” do Jefferson Airplane. A banda foi se desfazendo aos poucos; o primeiro a sair foi o tecladista que foi convocado por Dio ... O resto da banda se separou e o que conseguiu um maior destaque foi Johny DiTeodora que entrou no Britny Fox. [Fonte:Whiplash]
