Becomes popular with the Portuguese public through the television program " Return to the past " In 1991 wins the Festival RTP da Canção having gone to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest, where she sang " Lusitanian Passion " . Reaches the eighth place among 22 participating countries , one of the best benefits in Portugal Eurofestival . In 1992 Dulce recorded his first album , called Lusitania . Contained mostly pop songs , they were certainly still far below the ambitions , skills and artistic imagination of Dulce . However , even then it was known that Dulce was an excellent singer . The first evidence of this came a year later, in 1993 , when he released his second album called Tears . Dulce addressed the fate of a very unorthodox way. Mixed fado with traditional rhythms and modern instruments , looking for new forms of musical expression . Iberian rhythms enriched with sounds and motifs inspired by the tradition of Arabic and Balkan music, mainly Bulgarian . Their version of the classic " People Who Lavas No Rio " was anything but classic . Tears well but also had traditional songs , fado classics recorded live in the studio and sung in rigor with all requirements of orthodox fate. These were the themes ( " Tear " and " Strange Form of Life " ) which earned him the name of " successor and heir to Amalia Rodrigues " . But the greatest success of Tears was another classic , " The Song of the Sea " , which , in Brazil , was used as the opening theme of an adaptation of the novel The Pupils of Rector , Júlio Dinis , in telenovela . Played by Dulce , this theme has become one of the biggest successes of the Portuguese song ever ( paradoxically this version of " Sea Song " is heard very well Arabic influences ) , being probably the best known outside Portugal Portuguese song , interpreted by today around the world by various artists ( most recently by Sarah Brightman , who made the " Sea Song " the main reason for his musical album entitled Harem ) . " The Sea Song " performed by Dulce is also part of the soundtrack of the American film " The Two Faces of Crime " (English title - " Primal Fear " ) , in which Richard Gere co-stars with Edward Norton . In 1995 Dulce released the album Heart Brisa , which is an album recorded live during a concert which took place in Porto on May 6, 1995 . The next disc , Ways, was released in 1996 . Paths contained classic tracks as " Portuguese Fado " , " Seagull " and " Black Mother " , interpreted with great prowess , as well as original compositions . The review considered the most mature and best album Tears . The arrangements were more harmonious and less radical . This album cemented the position of Dulce Pontes as a great singer , but also has to understand well that would never be just a singer . Dulce was interested in being a versatile artist, heterogeneous , who does not hesitate to go beyond the boundaries of various genres . The album The First Corner was released in 1999 . The review considered the best and also the most ambitious and difficult career of Dulce . Dulce confirms that this disc is seriously interested in being a world music artist . In the First Canto Dulce introduces elements of jazz (the album with the collaboration of Maria João ) and opts for the acoustic sound. Gives new life to ancient musical traditions of the Iberian Peninsula ( not only sings in Portuguese , but also in Galician and mirandês ) , melodies and instruments rediscovered long forgotten . A Spanish version of " Courtyard of Love " , the famous tango of Astor Piazzolla unforgettable " Balada para un Loco " and a song written by Dulce , " My little boat " : a special edition of this album with three additional tracks was released . 2003 brought a great new twist on the art and life of Dulce Pontes. Sempre seguindo um intervalo de dois anos, foram lançados “Fight For Your Mind” (1995), “The Will To Live” (1997) e “Burn To Shine” (1999). There Will Be a Light”. [Fonte: myspace]
