Marcelo D2 nasceu em 5 de novembro de 1967, na zona norte do Rio de Janeiro. Carioca da gema quente dos bairros dos vales da cidade, escondido dos cartões postais e longe das calçadas ricas da beira-mar. Moleque ativo criado entre o morro e o asfalto do Andaraí, transitando na linha fina que separa um garoto de cair na marginalidade. Trabalhando e se virando desde os 13 anos, D2 é um daqueles casos de menino que nasce com uma estrela latejante de talento e “sagacidade”. Foi porteiro, camelô, faxineiro, entregador de jornais, vendedor de móveis, office boy. Vivia onde podia, como podia e ia levando. Todo sinal de fracasso revertido em sucesso em dobro. Sair de casa cedo o manteve circulando. Seus amigos de infância que ficaram no mesmo bairro acabaram sendo consumidos pelo tráfico de drogas e pouco a pouco D2 perdeu grandes amigos em confrontos armados. As convivências diversas que teve durante os anos de adolescência e juventude frutificaram numa ampla influência de ritmos e estilos musicais, que mais tarde tornaram-se evidentes em suas músicas. Com o término da banda Planet Hemp do qual era líder, D2 sentiu que era hora de buscar seu caminho em busca de seu próprio som. Ele já havia dado seus primeiros passos nessa direçäo com o lançamento de seu primeiro disco solo, “Eu Tiro É Onda” (1998). No disco ele colocou letras que falam sobre sua experiência de vida sobre uma cama musical essencialmente de hip hop, mas com um tempero de samba e malandragem. O sucesso do disco imediato e as vendagens ultrapassaram 150 mil cópias. Em 2004 ele pegou suas próprias músicas e desconstruiu beat e batucada e colocou uma banda de 23 músicos no palco. Uma orquestra para “desplugar” o hip hop, que por ter nascido “plugado” em pickups e samples foi reinventado ao renascer nas idéias de D2. Ele lançou entäo o Acústico MTV Marcelo D2, com uma coletânea de seus sucessos dos discos anteriores em versões acústicas. Ao vivo e com muita percussäo e uma banda afinada, D2 deu uma sonoridade ainda mais contagiante para suas músicas. A banda saiu em turnê e nas andanças pelo mundo e pelo Brasil D2 foi reunindo o material para seu mais recente lançamento. Seu terceiro disco solo é “Meu Samba é Assim”. Nele, D2 traz música com a sua cara nas 15 faixas inéditas. Durante meses, D2 recebeu uma quantidade enorme de bases de diferentes DJs de todo o país que se transformaram em seu disco mais elaborado, com sua mistura característica de samba e hip hop com a elegância do malandro e a sagacidade do mano. Nele participam estrelas de ambos os mundos que ele transita como Zeca Pagodinho, Alcione e Arlindo Cruz do Samba e Charli Tuna e Marechal do Rap. O disco foi lançado em Maio de 2006 e desde sua finalizaçäo em janeiro a expectativa da crítica e dos fäs já era grande. Em junho o disco já foi lançado também em Portugal e os demais países da Europa lançam o disco durante o veräo europeu. Logo após o lançamento, D2 embarcou em uma turnê de dois meses pela Europa durante a Copa do Mundo. Essa turnê é a maior de um artista brasileiro na Europa e Estados Unidos até hoje. Nela D2 se apresentou em festivais renomados como Montreux, na Suíça, Roskilde na Dinamarca, Womex na Inglaterra e ainda se apresentou para 15 mil pessoas em Los Angeles, no tradicional Hollywood Bowl. No exterior, é grande a procura por seus discos, principalmente em vinil. D2 se tornou uma referência para os DJs internacionais como o nome mas expressivo da vanguarda da música brasileira. Marcelo D2 was born on November 5, 1967, in the north of Rio de Janeiro. Carioca Hot gem of the neighborhoods of the city valleys, hidden from postcards and away from the rich sidewalks of the sea. In it, D2 brings music to your face in 15 previously unreleased tracks. For months, D2 received an enormous amount of bases of different DJs from around the country that became his most elaborate disc, with its characteristic mix of samba and hip hop with the elegance of the trickster and the wit of man. It participates stars of both worlds as it moves Zeca Pagodinho, Alcyone and Samba Arlindo Cruz and Charli Tuna and Rap Marshal. The album was released in May 2006 and since its finalization in January expectations of critics and fans it was great. In June the album has also been released in Portugal and other European countries launched the drive during the summer. Soon after the release, D2 embarked on a two-month tour of Europe during the World Cup. This tour is the largest by a Brazilian artist in Europe and the United States today.
