Concrete Blonde é uma banda de rock alternativo que atuou do início dos anos 80 até o início dos anos 90 (e juntou-se de novo nos anos 2000). Eles são conhecidos principalmente pelas letras e voz pungentes de Johnette Napolitano. A cantora / letrista / baixista Napolitano formou a banda Dream 6 com o guitarrista James Mankey em Los Angeles em 1982, lançando um LP homônimo na França pela gravadora Happy Hermit em 1983. Quando eles assinaram contrato com a I.R. S Records em 1986, o colega de gravadora Michael Stipe sugeriu o nome Concrete Blonde, que descreveria o contraste entre seu rock pesado e suas letras introspectivas (concrete=concreto, blonde=renda de seda). O baterista Harry Rushakoff juntou-se à banda no álbum de estreia. O baterista Paul Thompson, da Roxy Music, tomou o lugar de Rushakoff em Bloodletting e em várias faixas em Mexican Moon, enquanto Rushakoff estava em tratamento de desintoxicação por drogas. Concrete Blonde is an alternative rock band who played in the early 80s to the early 90s (and joined again in the 2000s). They are known mainly for letters and poignant voice of Johnette Napolitano. The singer / songwriter / bassist Napolitano formed the band Dream 6 with guitarist James Mankey in Los Angeles in 1982, releasing an eponymous LP in France by Happy Hermit label in 1983, when they signed to IR S Records in 1986, labelmate Michael Stipe suggested the name Concrete Blonde, which describe the contrast between their hard rock music and its introspective lyrics (= concrete concrete blonde income = silk). Drummer Harry Rushakoff joined the band on their debut album. Drummer Paul Thompson of Roxy Music, took the place of Rushakoff on Bloodletting and several tracks on Mexican Moon, while Rushakoff was in detox treatment for drugs. Rushakoff left the band in 2002 for having missed several rehearsals and shows. He was replaced by Gabriel Ramirez.
