His real name is Clarence Brown. Was born on April 18 de1924 in Vinton, Louisiana. And he died on September 10, 2005 in Orange Texas. He was nicknamed Gatemouth (Gate Mouth) due to full-bodied voice. Could play several musical instruments and their work used to switch the guitar with the violin. Was the last great bluesman Louisiana, as Buddy Guy is more identified with the Chicago blues. At five years old he already started on guitar. Sixteen he hits the road as a drummer obscure Brownskin Models group. After serving in World War second, he settled in San Antonio (Texas), where he took the battery of a big jazz band. At this time he discovered the guitar his passion. Quite unique musician, added to the elegant master of phrasing (T-Bone Walker) elements country music, jazz swing, bluegrass, cajun and zydeco, with a more aggressive attack. In 1947, he recorded two 78 rpm by Aladdin, Los Angeles, and 49 signed with Peacock Records in Houston (the first record label owned by blacks). For her, he threw up his 61 major singles. In the 70s, he was hired by the French label Black & Blue. At 78, he recorded an LP for powerful MCA, leading a big band (whose drummer, by the way, was the Brazilian Airto Moreira). In the late 70s, Brown returned to Louisiana, going to live in Slidell, the great New Orleans, on whose festival was set attraction. From the 80s he worked with Rounder and Alligator, two of the biggest record companies of the blues. Even suffering from lung cancer and heart disease, he never stopped playing until the age of 81. Parallel to Brown music came to be delegated to police and bar owner in Dallas. As BB King and John Lee Hooker, Gatemouth Brown was one of the few to go the whole history of blues, beginning before the electrification of the instruments and reaching the nineteenth century.
