Red Hot Chili Peppers é uma banda de rock dos Estados Unidos formada em Los Angeles, Califórnia, em 1983. O estilo musical do grupo consiste principalmente de rock, bem como elementos de outros gêneros, tais como punk, funk, rap, metal e rock psicodélico. A banda foi originalmente, constituída pelos membros fundadores Anthony Kiedis, (vocal) e Flea, (baixo), juntamente com o baterista de longa data Chad Smith, e o guitarrista Josh Klinghoffer. A formação original da banda continha Hillel Slovak na guitarra e Jack Irons na bateria, apesar de não terem participado no álbum de estréia do grupo, The Red Hot Chili Peppers (1984). Blood Sugar Sex Magik foi o primeiro grande sucesso do grupo, vendendo 15 milhões de cópias em todo o mundo. O quarteto se reuniu novamente em estúdio para gravar Californication, que vendeu 20 milhões de cópias, tornando-se o álbum de maior sucesso comercial da banda.
