And the music critic for the New York Times , John Rockwell once attended one of these shows and wrote " Mantus is one of the best bands to come around in a long time . " It was not actually until 1977 things actually started the band . That year the boys rough demo found its way to Will Crittendon , who was the owner of an independent record label and was looking for new young talent to burn .
