At the Drive-In is an American band post-hardcore formed in El Paso in 1993 by Cedric Bixler Zavala (vocals, percussion, synthesizer), Jim Ward (guitar, vocals, keyboards, percussion) and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (guitar, vocal). His first album was called Hell Paso, in reference to his hometown. Soon after its launch in November 1994, the band went on tour in Texas, especially playing in empty shows. However, after recording their second EP, Alfaro Vive, Carajo !, they were hired by Flipside. By Flipside, the TAIB recorded his first album Acrobatic Tenement, which came out for an extremely low cost: only $ 600. Soon after the release, changes were made in the formation: Tony Hajjar went on drums and Paul Hinojos on bass. Omar, who previously played bass, took the second guitar. When Flipside stopped releasing albums, they began to look for other seals that could release their next album. They signed with Offtime Records which released the EP El Gran Orgo without permission of the band. After undo the contract with Offtime Records, TAIB began to look for another label. Until some executives Fearless Records attended a concert of the band and offered a contract. This was a big surprise because this label was known for releasing only Pop Punk bands.
