[Fonte: wikipedia]
Alternative rock band, formed in 1994 in London, England. The founding members were the Belgian, Brian Molko (singer and guitarist) and Swede Stefan Olsdal (bass). Because of different origins (Belgium, Sweden, Luxembourg, England and Switzerland) of the members forming / formed Placebo, this is considered a European band. After a short presentation together in Luxembourg, they made sure that they should form a band. That same year, invited the Genebrense drummer and friend of Stefan, Robert Schultzberg, giving rise to Ashtray Heart. In 1995, the name changed to Placebo. The band began to gain projection, and in November of that year released her first single. During this period, they opened shows for big bands and small concerts were to disclosure. For lack of complicity between Robert and Brian, the drummer ended up leaving the band in 1996 and was at that time that they invited Steve Hewitt, a friend of Brian since 1991 Steve had played a few times with Brian and Stefan earlier, but could not participate in the initial formation of the band for being a member of the Breed. Recorded their first album entitled Placebo in 1996, and soon achieved a huge success throughout Europe, where they were already doing the tour itself. In this early career, Placebo even opened shows for David Bowie. On 1 October 2007, it was announced on the official website that Steve Hewitt left the band, citing "personal and musical differences". [Source: wikipedia]
