 Alcatrazz foi uma banda de hard rock formada em 1983 em Los Angeles pelo vocalista Graham Bonnet (ex-vocalista do Rainbow), o tecladista Jimmy Waldo e baixista Gary Shea. A formação inicial da banda contava com o guitarrista Yngwie Malmsteen e o baterista Jan Uvena. A maioria das músicas desta época foi escrita por Malmsteen e Bonnet, com Waldo em algumas faixas. Após gravarem dois álbuns, desentendimentos entre Malmsteen e Bonnet surgiram no decorrer da turnê. Ainda alegando o desejo de iniciar uma carreira solo, Malmsteen abandonou o grupo em 1985. Waldo trouxe o guitarrista Steve Vai para o lugar de Malmsteen, contra a vontade de Bonnet, e a banda assinou com a gravadora Capitol Records. Após gravar o álbum Disturbing the Peace, Steve Vai deixou a banda para se juntar ao grupo de David Lee Roth. Ele foi substituído pelo guitarrista Danny Johnson, que gravou aquele que seria o último álbum da banda: Dangerous Games, lançado em 1986. Pouco antes, Danny Johnson ainda chegou a deixar o Alcatrazz para entrar na banda Private Life. Alcatrazz was a hard rock band formed in 1983 in Los Angeles by vocalist Graham Bonnet (former lead singer of Rainbow), keyboardist Jimmy Waldo and bassist Gary Shea. The initial line-up featured guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and drummer Jan Uvena. Most of the songs of this era was written by Malmsteen and Bonnet, with Waldo on some tracks. After saving a two albums, disagreements between Malmsteen and Bonnet emerged during the tour. Still claiming the desire to start a solo career, Malmsteen left the group in 1985. Waldo brought guitarist Steve Vai on for Malmsteen, against the will of Bonnet, and the band signed with Capitol Records. After recording the album Disturbing the Peace, Steve Vai left the band to join the group of David Lee Roth. He was replaced by guitarist Danny Johnson, who recorded what would be the last album: Dangerous Games, released in 1986. Earlier, Danny Johnson arrived yet to leave the Alcatrazz to join the band Private Life. Hurt by the constant output of guitarists and the drop in sales of albums, the group disbanded in 1987.
