Regina Spektor, ou Регина Спектор, no alfabeto cirílico , e uma compositora e pianista russa radicada nos Estados Unidos. Sua música é associada ao cenário antifolk de Nova York localizado no East Village. Nasceu numa família de músicos, seu pai, um fotógrafo, era também um violinista amador, e sua mãe era uma professora de música da Universidade de Música Russa. Aprendeu a tocar piano praticando em um “Petrof” que sua mãe havia ganhado de seu avô. Também conviveu com a música de bandas de rock como The Beatles, Queen, e The Moody Blues graças a seu pai, que trouxe cassetes da União Soviética. No começo se interessava apenas por música clássica, mas depois passou a se interessar também por hip-hop, Rock, e punk. Em 2001, lançou seu primeiro álbum, 11:11, que foi muito bem recebido pela crítica. Seu quarto álbum com músicas inéditas, o Begin to Hope, estreiou em 70º lugar na Billboard 200. Com o sucesso do single “Fidelity”, conseguiu chegar ao vigésimo lugar das paradas, e ainda ganhou o título de “21º melhor álbum de 2006”. Também abriu shows para os The Strokes durante a turnê do Room on Fire e fez ainda os temas dos filmes “As Crônicas de Nárnia: Príncipe Caspian”, com a canção “The Call”, e “(500) Dias Com Ela”, com a canção “Hero”.
