Tudo começou quando Eduardo Caldas (vocais) enviou uma nota para a revista Showbizz, na edição de março/99, onde buscava músicos de Natal para formarem um grupo de rock. Através desta nota, conheceu Gustavo Pereira (guitarra) e Aguimar Campêlo (guitarra). A proposta inicial do trio era tocar covers de bandas como R.E.M., Radiohead, U2 e Legião Urbana. Com a entrada de Márcio Xavier (contra-baixo) e Joab Quental (bateria) o grupo fez várias apresentações em Natal, além da abertura do ConSertão em Mossoró(RN) e um festival na UFPB em João Pessoa. Nesta época começaram a surgir as primeiras composições e logo em seguida a banda gravou seu primeiro CD Demo, com cinco musicas autorais, no Ícone Studio. Entre algumas apresentações esporádicas e entra-e-sai de músicos, a banda decidiu se concentrar apenas nas composições próprias. Em Fevereiro/Março de 2003 a banda gravou sua segunda Demo (Êxodo) no Megafone Estúdio com Daniel Carezzato na bateria, e Aguimar assumindo o contra-baixo. O disco recebeu boas críticas nas revistas Dynamite e Comando Rock.  Em 2004, com Igor Santos nas baquetas, voltaram com força total aos shows em Natal, se apresentando também em Currais Novos (RN), Recife (PE) e João Pessoa (PB). No inicio de 2005 lançaram seu primeiro CD pelo selo potiguar Solaris Discos. O disco inclui a demo Êxodo mais 3 faixas inéditas. Em 2006 são seleconados para o MADA, um dos maiores festivais de música independente do país. A apresentação teve ótimas críticas da imprensa especializada. Nesse mesmo ano lançam o single da música "Fugas e Lamentos". O nome MONTGOMERY é uma referência ao ator americano dos anos 50/60, Edward Montgomery Clift, um grande admirador do Blues e do Jazz, que se tornou uma lenda por suas magníficas atuações e por, injustamente, nunca ter arrebatado uma estatueta. A banda é influenciada principalmente pelo britpop e grupos como U2, R.E.M., Legião Urbana e Ira!. Tem como proposta musical priorizar a melodia, os bons riffs, a poesia e as guitarras ora pesadas, ora dedilhadas. [Fonte: rockwave]

It all started when Eduardo Caldas (vocals) sent a note to Showbizz magazine in the March 1999 edition, where he was looking for Christmas musicians to form a rock group. Through this note, he met Gustavo Pereira (guitar) and Aguimar Campêlo (guitar). The initial proposal of the trio was to play covers of bands like R.E.M., Radiohead, U2 and Legião Urbana. With the entry of Márcio Xavier (bass) and Joab Quental (drums) the group made several presentations in Natal, as well as the opening of ConSertão in Mossoró (RN) and a festival at the UFPB in João Pessoa. At that time began to appear the first compositions and soon afterwards the band recorded its first CD Demo, with five musics copyright, in the Icon Studio. Between some sporadic performances and enter-and-go musicians, the band decided to focus only on their own compositions. In February / March 2003 the band recorded their second Demo (Exodus) in the Megaphone Studio with Daniel Carezzato on drums, and Aguimar taking on the bass. The album received good reviews in the magazines Dynamite and Comando Rock. In 2004, with Igor Santos on drumsticks, they returned with full force to the shows in Natal, also performing in Currais Novos (RN), Recife (PE) and João Pessoa (PB). At the beginning of 2005 they released their first CD by the label potiguar Solaris Discos. The disc includes the Exodus demo plus 3 unreleased tracks. In 2006 they are selected for MADA, one of the biggest independent music festivals in the country. The presentation received great criticism from the press. That same year they released the single of the song "Fugas e Lamentos". The name MONTGOMERY is a reference to the American actor of the 50s / 60s, Edward Montgomery Clift, a great admirer of the Blues and the Jazz, who became a legend for his magnificent performances and for unjustly never having snatched a figurine. The band is influenced mainly by britpop and groups like U2, R.E.M., Legião Urbana and Ira !.
