Já com esse álbum a banda chamou atenção, tendo boas canções como “Happy”, “Good Feeling” e “All I Want to Do Is Rock”, além de algumas das tradicionais baladas da banda, como “More Than Us”. No entanto, foi com “The Man Who” que os rapazes de Glasgow conseguiram alcançar o topo das paradas britânicas, especialmente com a canção “Why does it always rains on me”. Os singles de “12 Memories” foram “Re-offender”, “The Beautiful Occupation” e “Love Will Come Through”. [Creditos: wikipedia
Travis is an indie rock band formed in 1999 in Scotland . Travis could be known only as the band of boys from Glasgow School of Art who decided to make music to express their feelings . It would be just that , if they had no power to do good songs , with a knack pop . The old formula is known to those who follow a bit of Britpop : one more acoustic driven rock , coupled with lyrics that can go from romantic to melancholy , moving , of course , the theme " Alcohol + girls." And also with influences common to almost all the Britpop bands of the 90s : Beatles , attached to a touch of blues. The band with the name Glass Onion and three of the current four members : Fran Healy ( vocals ) , Neil Primrose ( drums) and Andy Dunlop (guitar ) . In 1994 came the change of name to Travis , named after the protagonist of the film 's German director Wim Wenders' " Paris , Texas " , released in 1984 . And in 1996 he joined the band as bassist [ Dougie Payne ] , an old friend of Healy art school , he had never played the instrument before. It was with this lineup that they record " Good Feeling " album released by Independiente in 1996 . Now with this album the band drew attention , with good songs like " Happy" , " Feeling Good " and "All I Want to Do Is Rock " , plus some of the traditional ballads of the band as "More Than Us " . " Good Feeling " yet rendered a public statement from Noel Gallagher , claiming to be a fan of the quartet . However , it was with " The Man Who" the boys from Glasgow managed to reach the top of the British charts , especially with the song " Why does it always rains on me" . As in " Good Feeling " , the songs are romantic and melancholic , with guitars a bit softer than the previous record, but also sentimental and beautiful , with a strong pop appeal . The base guitar, most often , is replaced by a guitar , which makes them even more melancholy songs . This album came out in 1999 , produced by Nigel Godrich ( Radiohead ) and Mike Hedges ( Maniac Street Preachers ) and had a small controversy : that his first track , " Writing to Reach You " would be a plagiarism of " Wonderwall " Oasis . The introduction is in fact very similar , but as we learned of this similarity, the lyric question: " what'sa Wonderwall anyway ? " . When asked about it , Healy said simply " are only chord " . Travis 's third album was " The Invisible Band " in 2001 , also with the production of Godrich . This disc has confirmed that the band was still full of romanticism and with the same brilliance to light and penetrating melodies . The four members of Travis demonstrate a very good energy at their shows are not just a studio band . The interpretation of the songs on stage sounds better than on the albums , with Healy and inspired to sing his love songs and his teenage dramas . In October 2003 leaves the fourth disc Travis , titled " 12 Memories " . The album received a lukewarm manner by critics. This is a less accessible album than " The Invisible Band " , without the instant hits that brought his former . The singles "12 Memories " were " Re - offender " , " The Beautiful Occupation" and "Love Will Come Through". With the album " The Boy With No Name " Travis firm as a more mature side of " sentimental " rock bands , looking for a different rhyme of other cds , no less pop and much more experimental and harmonious sounds ; sonic inspirations that refer to the " Yo la tengo " . What makes those who listen to the cd to closely monitor this breeze provided by the band sound like we're hearing everything through a sea breeze , such softness and freshness of the tracks . " Ode to J. Smith " , the sixth album from the Scottish band , was released in 2008 and received many positive reviews . The first single from the album was " Something Anything" , followed by " Song to Self" and " J. Smith . " In an interview with Planet Sound , Dougie Payne stated that touched on this album like no other album recorded by the band . [Credits : wikipedia ]
