The Allman Brothers Band foi uma banda de southern rock formada em Macon, Geórgia, nos Estados Unidos da América, apelidada pelo Hall da Fama do Rock and Roll como o principal arquiteto do rock sulista estadunidense. A banda foi formada em 26 de março de 1969 em Jacksonville, Flórida com Duane Allman (eleito pela revista Rolling Stones em 2003, como o segundo melhor guitarrista de todos os tempos), Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks e Jai Johanny “Jaimoe” Johanson. Foram descritas dois anos depois ,de 1969, por George Kimball, jornalista da revista Rolling Stone, como “a melhor banda de rock and roll que este país produziu nos últimos cinco anos”. Reconhecidos por sua capacidade de improvisação impressionante, cujo melhor exemplo se encontra no álbum At Fillmore East, a banda foi premiada com onze discos de ouro e cinco de prata entre 1971 e 2005. Infelizmente, em 1971, Duanne faleceu em um acidente de motocicleta. A revista Rolling Stone colocou a banda como um dos 100 Maiores Artistas de Todos os Tempos, em 2004, e foi a banda mais representada na lista de melhores guitarristas feita pela mesma revista. The Allman Brothers Band was one southern rock band from Macon, Georgia, in the United States, nicknamed the Hall of Fame Rock and Roll as the principal architect of the US southern rock. The band was formed on March 26, 1969 in Jacksonville, Florida with Duane Allman (elected by Rolling Stones in 2003 as the second best guitarist of all time), Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson. They were described two years later, 1969, by George Kimball, a journalist for Rolling Stone magazine as "the best rock and roll band this country has produced in the last five years." Recognized for its impressive improvisational skills, whose best example is the album At Fillmore East, the band was awarded with eleven gold records and five silver between 1971 and 2005. Unfortunately, in 1971, Duanne died in a motorcycle accident. Rolling Stone put the band as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in 2004, and was the most representative band in the list of best guitarists made by the same magazine.
