Natural de Teófilo Otoni (Minas Gerais), desde menino Leonardo Magalhães, o nosso querido Léo, cantarolava músicas sertanejas. Na adolescência, começou a cantar em bares e reuniões familiares. E, tempos depois, onde quer que houvesse rodeios, vaquejadas ou exposições agropecuárias na região, lá estava Léo com seu violão. Dono de uma voz abençoada, à época fazia do seu repertório um desfile de sucessos com as canções das duplas sertanejos com que mais se identificava: Zezé di Camargo & Luciano, Chitãozinho e Xororó, Leandro e Leonardo, João Paulo e Daniel, Chico Rey e Paraná, Gian e Giovanni, Bruno e Marrone; a moçada se rendia ao repertório cantando e fazendo coro. Aos poucos, e com seu jeito bem mineiro, aprimorou o canto e seu próprio estilo de cantar. Nessa época, já começava a fazer aberturas de grandes shows e eventos. Eleito por dois anos consecutivos como um dos melhores cantores do Estado de Minas Gerais (no Festicano), lançou-se no mercado fonográfico gravando em seu primeiro CD, sucessos como: “Camas Separadas”, “Amor Rebelde”, “Cara Metade”, “Só da Ela no Meu Coração”. Com o impulso dado pela publicidade, e aproveitando-se do ritmo que despontava no norte e nordeste, Léo resolve lançar o seu segundo CD com o título "Em Ritmo de Arrocha", cuja tiragem inicial de 100.000 cópias foi rapidamente consumida, passando Léo Magalhães a ser presença marcante em eventos do Espírito Santo e da Bahia. O terceiro CD não tardou, e trouxe os sucessos: "Segura essa Onda", "Tranque a Porta e Me Beija" e "Alma Minha", que ostentou os primeiros lugares da parada musical nas rádios regionais por semanas a fio. Vivendo um dos melhores momentos de sua vida pessoal e profissional, lança o seu quinto CD com o título "Arrastando Multidões (Vol. 5)"., que amplamente tocado e divulgado em todo Brasil conduz Léo Magalhães ao Top da parada por semanas consecutivas em programas que tocam o gênero musical. Não poderia ter sido diferente, afinal, são tantos sucessos: “Mensagem Pra Ela”, “Fui Homem Demais”, “A Carta”, “Guarda Chuva”, “Amor de Novela”, “Inventando Paixão”, “Não Tenha Dó de Mim”, “Presente de Deus” e “Locutor” (que foi regravada por vários outros artistas nacionais).
