Robert Peter Williams, mais conhecido como Robbie Williams (nome artístico), nasceu em Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, é um cantor pop britânico. Foi membro do grupo Take That até o ano de 1995, quando deu início a carreira-solo. Alcançou o sucesso com a balada Angels, de 1997, do álbum Life thru a Lens. O início da carreira musical deu-se no grupo Take That, fundado em 1990, com a qual conseguiu grande sucesso, tendo oito singles na lista de mais vendidos do Reino Unido. Daí, surgiram várias bandas similares no país. No entanto, havia boatos de que Williams não se ajustava muito ao grupo, causando brigas dentro do círculo. Abandonou o grupo em 1995. Williams retornou ao grupo em 2010 e, juntos, lançaram o multi premiado álbum Progress em Novembro do mesmo ano. Começou a carreira-solo em 1996, com o single “Freedom ‘90”. Em 1997, lançou “Old Before I Die”. Os dois singles alcançaram os primeiros lugares das paradas inglesas. Em dezembro de 1997, lançou “Life thru a Lens”, na qual se incluía o hit Angels. Com Angels, ficou na primeira posição das paradas durante 28 semanas e ressuscitou a carreira de Robbie, mesmo não sendo o número um na parada britânica de singles (ficou em 4º lugar em vendas). Angels foi eleita a melhor música dos últimos 25 anos (da época) pelos ouvintes da BBC e recebeu um prêmio especial na 15º edição do Brit Awards. “I’ve Been Expecting You”, seu segundo disco, estourou em vendas no Reino Unido.
