A banda Ill Niño foi formada mais exatamente em 1998, quando haviam lançado um EP demo nesse mesmo ano, com Jorge Rosado nos vocais. O EP foi intitulado El Niño, quando o nome da banda ainda originalmente era chamada El Niño, por causa do fenômeno meteorológico. Mas foi em 1999, que tinham oficialmente formalizado. Após a saída de Rosado da banda para a Merauder, o El Niño havia assinado com a Roadrunner Records em 2000, mas foram obrigados a mudar o nome, porque ele já estava sendo usado por outra banda, então mudaram para Ill Niño. Eles lançam seu álbum de estréia, Revolution Revolución, em 18 de Setembro de 2001. Em apoio ao lançamento do álbum, a banda fazia parte das turnês Ozzfest e Jägermeister em 2002. O single do álbum, “What Comes Around”, também recebeu significativo airplay na MTV2 no final de 2001. Ill Niño lança seu segundo álbum de estúdio, Confession, foi liberado em 30 de Setembro de 2003. Nine days later it was announced that Ill Niño had signed new agreement with the newly formed Cement Shoes Records. In Cement Shoes debut, the band released the EP of five tracks The Undercover Sessions on 7 November 2006.
