Jota Quest é uma banda de pop rock formada em Belo Horizonte, Brasil em 1993. Nasceu com o nome Jay Quest, posteriormente transformado em J. Quest, por inspiração do desenho animado Jonny Quest e da banda de acid jazz Jamiroquai. Aliás, foi por gostar de black music (soul/funk/disco) e acid jazz que o baixista PJ e o baterista Paulinho Fonseca resolveram formar uma banda. Em seguinda, o guitarrista Marco Túlio Lara e o tecladista Márcio Buzelin juntaram-se ao grupo. Só faltava, então, um vocalista. E após testarem nada menos que dezoito candidatos, Rogério Flausino foi o feliz eleito. Escolha que a história de 15 anos da banda mostrou ser das mais acertadas. Para não serem processados pela Hanna-Barbera, o grupo teve de mudar o nome da banda para Jota Quest no final da década de 1990. Em 1996, foram contratados pela Sony Music e gravaram o primeiro álbum J. Quest. Nessa época, a banda exibia um visual exótico, com roupas em estilo anos 70 e perucas (que foram abandonadas após serem roubadas em um programa de TV). O grupo fez seu primeiro show como J.Quest inspirado no desenho animado Jonny Quest e na banda de Acid Jazz Jamiroquai, ideia do baixista PJ (ainda que nenhum dos integrantes fosse fã do desenho). Na época, o grupo circulou pelo circuito de bares e faculdades de Belo Horizonte e chegou a reunir mais de 2.000 pessoas por apresentação. Com isso, a banda foi conquistando espaço. o contrato com a SONY MUSIC, veio em seguida e o primeiro CD oficial foi lançado em agosto de 1996. O visual dos anos 70, representado na capa do álbum de estréia por roupas características e enormes perucas black power da época, agradaram ao público e à mídia. Não demorou muito para as músicas As Dores Do Mundo e Encontrar Alguém – sucessos em Belo Horizonte - conquistarem as rádios de todo o Brasil. Em 1998, já assinando como Jota Quest, a banda lançou seu segundo álbum De Volta Ao Planeta…, consolidando sua carreira em todo o país. A música Fácil foi uma das faixas mais tocadas da época e o grupo conquistou seu primeiro Disco de Platina por vender mais de 250 mil cópias do disco. Em 2002, Rogério Flausino foi convidado pela Disney para cantar a versão brasileira a trilha sonora do filme Planeta do Tesouro. A música se chama Estou Aqui (I’m Still Here em inglês). Após quatro anos sem lançar um CD com inéditas, o grupo se isolou em seu estúdio em Belo Horizonte para gravar Até Onde Vai, que chegou às lojas em outubro de 2005 e, desde então, se mantém entres os cds mais vendidos do país. Dez anos depois do lançamento do primeiro CD, a banda marca presença no cenário pop rock brasileiro. Ao todo são seis CDs, milhares de shows e recordes de público por todo o Brasil, apresentações nos EUA e, recentemente, na Europa, onde participou da abertura do Rock in Rio Lisboa, dividindo palco com Carlos Santana e Roger Waters. Em 2007, Rogério Flausino recebeu o Prêmio Multishow de melhor cantor do Brasil. No ano de 2008, a banda lança La Plata, gravado no estúdio Minério de Ferro, após três anos da gravação do até então último álbum, Até Onde Vai que de 2005 foi a turnê mais longa do Jota Quest, chegando a lançar o DVD Até Onde vai, que foi gravado no dia 3 Setembro de 2006, no Anfiteatro Pôr-do-Sol em Porto Alegre. In 2002, Roger Flausino was invited by Disney to sing the Brazilian version of the soundtrack of the movie Treasure Planet. The song is called I'm Here (I'm Still Here in English). After four years without releasing a CD of unreleased, the group isolated in his studio in Belo Horizonte to write Where To Go, which hit stores in October 2005 and since then remains entres the best-selling country CDs. Ten years after the release of the first CD, the band is present in the Brazilian pop rock scene. Altogether there are six CDs, thousands of shows and attendance records throughout Brazil, presentations in the US and recently in Europe, where he attended the opening of the Rock in Rio Lisboa, sharing stage with Carlos Santana and Roger Waters. In 2007, Roger Flausino Multishow received the Award for best singer in Brazil.
