Em 1978, Marcos começou sua carreira musical como baterista em uma banda de heavy metal. Marcos mudou-se para Portugal em 1986 e tocou música dos Beatles para os turistas. Ele primeiro mergulhou em música eletrônica em 1989, quando ele comprou um sampler digital. A primeira música que ele gravou em que foi chamado de " Maxwell House." Em 1994, lançou seu primeiro álbum de estúdio Maya in Planet Dog Records, que foi nomeado para o Mercury Music Prize em seu lançamento. Ele foi seguido em 1995 pelo aclamado Last Train To Lhasa. He first delved into electronic music in 1989 when he bought a digital sampler. The first song he recorded in what was called the " Maxwell House . " In 1994 he released his first studio album Maya in Planet Dog Records , which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in its release . He was followed in 1995 by acclaimed Last Train To Lhasa . In 1997 , Banco De Gaia riding a five-piece band that included Ted Duggan (drums ) , Ashley Hopkins (bass), Larry Whelan ( Wind Synth , Sax and Ethnic Flutes ) , and Gary Spacey -Foot ( Percussion and Saxophone ) . The band is reduced in number to just Marks , Duggan , and Hopkins in 1999 , and then just Marks and Duggan from 2000 until 2003, when Marcos went back to being a solo artist. On September 20, 2009 , Banco De Gaia had a release show for their album, Memories Dreams Reflections at Dingwalls in London . This show was to celebrate 20 years of the Banco de Gaia .
