Ex-baixista do grupo Titãs, Nando, mesmo como integrante da banda paulista, já mantinha uma carreira solo onde expunha seu lado de compositor e intérprete. Nos Titãs, integrou o grupo desde o surgimento, em 1982, até 2003. Apesar da saída de Nando, grande parte de sua obra musical está na discografia e na história da banda. No início dos Titãs, Nando era apenas backing vocal e, a partir dos ensaios da banda, começou a tocar baixo. Desde pequeno, adorava tocar violão e compor músicas. Gravou pela primeira vez, como cantor, duas músicas de sua autoria: "Marvin" (parceria com Sérgio Britto) e "Querem Meu Sangue". Nos Titãs, foi autor de muitas músicas de sucesso como: "Os Cegos do Castelo", "Pra Dizer Adeus" (com Tony Belloto), "Bichos Escrotos" (com Arnaldo Antunes e Sérgio Britto) e outros. Fora dos Titãs, teve músicas gravadas por Marisa Monte ("Diariamente"), Cássia Eller ("E.C.T."), Cidade Negra ("Onde Você Mora"). Ainda durante o trabalho com os Titãs, grava três discos paralelamente; o primeiro em 1995 ("12 de Janeiro"), o segundo em 2000 ("Para Quando o Arco-íris Encontrar o Pote de Ouro") e o último, antes de seguir a carreira solo, “Infernal... but there’s still a full moon shining over Jalalabad”. Em 2003, oficialmente fora dos Titãs, o cantor lança “A letra A”. O disco é recheado de músicas que não caberiam em fase alguma da carreira da antiga banda de Nando. São canções longas, sem refrões definidos nem melodias instantaneamente grudentas e uma sonoridade enxuta, porém vigorosa, quase acústica. Com 12 faixas de sua autoria, ainda se pode ouvir sua versão de “Luz dos Olhos”, música dele, inicialmente gravada por Cássia Eller. Mas é em 2004 que Nando consolida sua carreira solo com o CD “MTV Ao Vivo – Nando Reis e Os Infernais”. Junto com sua banda, Os Infernais, Nando canta nesse disco músicas inéditas, covers e sucessos eternizados do cantor. O projeto reuniu clássicos dos Titãs ("Cegos do Castelo" e "Marvin"), além de músicas gravadas por Cássia Eller ("Relicário" e "All Star") e J. Quest ("Do seu lado") e três faixas inéditas. "Dentro do Mesmo Time" ganhou uma versão ao vivo, mas o grande destaque do repertório ficou para "Mantra", que emplacou como sucesso radiofônico, junto com “Por Onde Andei”. Former bassist of the group Titans, Nando, even as a member of the São Paulo band already had a solo career which exposed its composer aside and interpreter.
