Son of musician Cesar Faria, Paulinho da Viola grew up in a musical environment naturally. In its infancy in Botafogo, traditional neighborhood of southern zone of Rio de Janeiro where he was born on November 12, 1942, had counted with the constant music through his father, a member of the set guitarist Golden Era. In trials the family together, Paulinho met Jacob's Mandolin and Pixinguinha, among many other musicians who gathered to cry and eventually sing waltzes and sambas from different eras. Over the 70 years, Paulinho recorded on average one album every year, won several awards and performed by several cities in Brazil and worldwide. Already in the 80s, recorded over four albums and has remained as one of the leading names of samba in Brazil. In the 90s, entered a new phase, where the press and critics began to see it as a more sophisticated and mature musician. Even without losing its popular appeal, Paulinho recorded one of his most important works, Bebadosamba and rode the eponymous show. Paulinho's work today is seen as a link between various popular traditions like samba, carnival and crying, and his forays into compositions for guitar and avant-garde pieces. One of the greatest representatives of samba and heir to the legacy of musicians like Top Hat, Candeia and Nelson Cavaquinho shows that is always renewing itself and producing without abandoning their principles and aesthetic values.
