Arthur Neilson nascido e criado em New York City, aprendeu sozinho a tocar guitarra em um elétrico Teisco Del Rey aos quinze anos. Depois de comprar um acústico Harmony, ele aperfeiçoou seu repertório e fingerpicking habilidades folclóricas. Então, uma noite, ele ouviu Albert King. This led him to New York thriving blues scene, which gave Arthur the opportunity to back up the end of Victoria Spivey and jam with James Cotton and Hubert Sumlin. In 1979, Arthur called the Blue Angel Band attention with his rootsy, aggressive play guitar. After joining Blue Angel, they recorded an album for Polydor, which received much critical acclaim.
