 Tudo começou no bairro do Politeama em Salvador, Bahia, há mais de 15 anos. Em 1998, veio a grande explosão, com mais de 3 milhões de CDs vendidos do “Ao Vivo e a Cores”, gravado em Belo Horizonte. Os percussionistas e pesquisadores musicais Mário Ornellas e Edson Souza fizeram parte do Gerasamba que durante vários anos foi o mais popular grupo de samba nos bares e clubes de Salvador. Em 1991, eles resolveram seguir carreira e formaram o Terrasamba, uma denominação que sempre existiu simultaneamente ao Gerasamba. O primeiro disco gravado em 1989 já se chamava "Terrasamba". Era um long-play com vários sambas tradicionais da Bahia, especialmente "pot-pourri" com sambas-de-roda do Recôncavo. A sua trajetória de popularização começou com o sucesso "Vá Pra Casa Corno" (Riachão-Ninha) e segundo Mário Ornellas, as apresentações no Lagoa Mar (bar da orla de Salvador) foram decisivas para a divulgação do grupo.Em 1994, com a saída do vocalista Diumbanda, entrou Reynaldo Nascimento. Isso foi muito importante, pois ele possuía uma grande simpatia popular e uma ampla experiência profissional. Havia cantado em vários grupos, no Engenho Velho, no Sodré (Sodresamba), teve uma banda de tambores chamada Odoiá, passou pelo Ilê Aiyê, integrou a percussão do Ara Ketu, cantou na Levada do Pelô e Raízes do Pelô. O apoio do radialista Josenel Barreto para gravar um CD promocional, sendo a primeira vez gravada uma música na voz de Reynaldo, "Desce Pra Mim" (Mancinha-Tatau-Reynaldo), foi fundamental para projetar o grupo durante todo o Verão de 94/95. A partir daí, a trajetória de sucesso do Terrasamba foi consolidada, com a entrada do produtor Jarbas Veiga e com a gravação do primeiro CD: "Terrasamba Faz Bem". Buscando aliar as raízes do samba às novas tendências, o grupo se destaca como versátil e de estilo próprio, conquistando público e o reconhecimento do seu trabalho. A trajetória definitiva do Terra Samba começou com o 1º CD, em 95 foi lançado o "Terra Samba Faz Bem", depois "Deus é Brasileiro" de 96 e "Liberar Geral" do ano seguinte. A arrancada veio com "Terra Samba ao Vivo e a Cores". "Liberar Geral" e "Carrinho de Mão" tiveram execução maciça nas rádios e conquistaram o público brasileiro - o disco ficou entre os de maior vendagem por meses a fio. O Terra Samba virou mania nacional. Além de apresentações esgotadas, o conjunto recebeu a confiança da crítica e foi apontado como o "Grupo Revelação" de 1998. Receberam o prêmio "Melhor Show de 98", pelo canal Multishow / Globosat. Nessa época o grupo passou a intensificar a sua carreira internacional. O ano de 1999 abriu com o lançamento de "Auê do Terra", e o novo milênio acenou com "Sinal Verde" e o “Ao Vivo 2 – Na Manteiga”, veio em 2001, consagrado com a música na “Na Manteiga”, “Xí do Terra Samba” CD lançado em 2002 pela Abril Music, foi pura adrenalina, com o os sucessos “Reboleio” e “Boneco Doido”. Em 2003 o cd "Show do Terra Samba" lançado pela Som Livre, mostrou um repertório não só do grupo como também grandes sucessos de outros artistas consagrados, a exemplo de: Malandragem, Palpite e Sonífera Ilha. Em 2004 foi a vez do Cd "É só Alegria", ele veio cheio de expectativas, com músicas inéditas e um repertório contagiante. Em 2005 o Cd "Terra Mix",foi o 11° cd com a cara e a coragem do brasileiro, com sua mistura, sua miscigenação. Em 2006 foi lançado o novo CD Dendê, sendo o 12º da carreira, ele tem todos os ingredientes que fazem da música baiana, a mais festiva, a mais percussiva, a mais eletrizante, e o dendê vêm recheado de delícias musicais, principalmente com o samba-reggae. Em 2007 foi uma grande festa no registro do 1° DVD / CD no Music Hall em BH. Foram releituras dos sucessos antigos do Terra, músicas inéditas e regravações de outros interpretes, como “Piririm Pom Pom”, “Risca Faca”, “Se Quiser”, “Saideira”, “Meu Erro”, “Não Há Lugar Melhor que BH”, “Solteiro em Salvador” e outras. E os convidados fizeram um show à parte ! Carla Visi, uma das maiores intérpretes da música baiana deu um show de interpretação na musica “Calafrio”, a participação do jovem revelação Leví Lima da banda Via Circular, não ficou atráz, carismático e com uma performance impecável, fez o público delirar na música “Solteiro em Salvador”. Durante essa longa estrada, o Terra também extrapolou fronteiras, com turnês Internacionais, participando de grandes shows e festivais e lançando o Cd “Dendê”, pela gravadora Concertone de Roma na Itália. A Nova Cara do Terra vem com proposta de renovação não apenas da linha de frente, mas também no conceito musical, e no novo comando do grupo a experiência de um grande cantor: Mano Moreno, artista com passagem pelo “Bragaboys” e que teve seu auge nacional com o sucesso de uma versão, a musica “Bomba”. Por outro lado, mais um jovem cantor vem se revelando no cenário baiano: Márcio Bahia, tem como característica ótima presença de palco, voz marcante e um suingue nato, tudo isso leva a apostar nessa dupla de cantores, que consegue unir a experiência à jovem promessa, dando uma nova cara ao Terra. A nova proposta já é realidade, a estrada tem sido o termômetro dessa nova etapa. Por onde tem se apresentado, a novidade dos dois cantores tem mostrado uma outra dinâmica. O show tornou-se mais eclético e o repertório mais atual, com apresentações mais vibrantes nas vozes de Mano Moreno e Márcio Bahia.
