 Machine Head é uma banda de Thrash Metal / Heavy Metal, formada em 1992 em Oakland, Califórnia. Seus membros originais são: Robb Flynn (Voz, Guitarra), Logan Mader (Guitarra), Adam Duce (Baixo, Voz Secundária) e Chris Kontos (Bateria). Algumas bandas que influenciam o Machine Head são : Black Sabbath, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus, Testament… Seu primeiro álbum, chamado Burn My Eyes (1994), foi consagrado pelos fãs e crítica. Tendo várias faixas que tornaram-se verdadeiros hinos para fãs deste estilo músical. Como por exemplo: “Davidian”, “Old” e “None But My Own”. Com o lançamento de seu primeiro álbum a banda foi chamada de “filhos do Slayer”, pelo peso e a notável influência que esta banda exercia sobre eles. Lançarem seu segundo álbum The More Things Change em 1997. Este novo álbum foi marcado com uma nova fase da banda. As músicas eram mais agressivas e com uma certa pitada de hardcore. “The More Things Change” fez muito sucesso com os fãs da banda também, com destaque para as músicas “Ten Ton Hammer” e “Take My Scars”. Em 1998 inesperadamente o guitarrista Logan Mader saiu da banda e foi substituído por Ahrue Luster. Com um novo guitarrista a banda lançou em 1999 um novo álbum, entitulado The Burning Red. Este foi, talvez o álbum mais polêmico da banda. Seu estilo havia mudado bastante. Havia forte influência de new metal, com vocais de rap e bases de guitarra mais simples. Mas em compensação foi o álbum da banda que a tornou mais conhecida do grande público. Talvez por apresentar as músicas de uma forma mais popular. Este álbum conta com clássicos do Machine Head, como “The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears”, “From This Day” e “The Burning Red”. Em 2002 o guitarrista Ahrue Luster largou a banda e foi substituído por Phil Demmel que já havia tocado com Robb Flynn na banda Violence. Então em 2003 foi lançado o álbum Hellalive gravado ao vivo na Brixton Academy, em Londres que contém os maiores sucessos da banda tocados ao vivo. Ainda em 2003 o álbum Through the Ashes of Empires foi lançado na europa, e depois em 2004 foi lançado nos Estados Unidos. Through the Ashes of Empires foi uma verdadeira volta às raízes do Machine Head. Com o peso e a agressividade de volta ao estilo músical este disco é considerado por muitos como o melhor da banda desde Burn My Eyes. There was a strong influence of nu metal with rap vocals and simple guitar bases . But on the other hand was the album that made the band more known to the general public. Perhaps by presenting the songs in a more popular form . This album features classic Machine Head as " The Blood , The Sweat , The Tears " , " From This Day " and " The Burning Red " . In 2002 guitarist Ahrue Luster quit the band and was replaced by Phil Demmel who had previously played with Robb Flynn on Violence band. So in 2003 it launched the Hellalive album recorded live at the Brixton Academy in London which contains the greatest hits played live . In 2003 the album Through the Ashes of Empires was released in Europe , and then in 2004 was released in the United States . Through the Ashes of Empires was a true back to the roots of Machine Head . With the weight and aggression back to the musical style this album is considered by many as the best band since Burn My Eyes .
