Aos cinco anos de idade assistia programas de calouros, como o de Chacrinha. Levada por amigos para cantar, iniciou sua maratona de apresentações em barzinhos e pequenas festas da cidade até 1985, quando puxou pela primeira vez o bloco com trio elétrico "Freelance", no carnaval da Bahia. Em 1986, passou a integrar a Banda Cheiro de Amor, que naquela época chamava-se "Pimenta de Cheiro". No ano seguinte a banda gravou seu primeiro disco "Pimenta de cheiro". Durante os anos seguintes, gravou outros 10 discos integrando a banda. Em 1996, deixou a Banda Cheiro de Amor e partiu para a carreira solo, tornando-se uma das principais atrações dos carnavais fora de época pelo Brasil e exterior, a exemplo do primeiro carnaval realizado no México na cidade de Cancun - "O Carnacancun". Seu primeiro CD solo, "Márcia Freire", foi lançado em 1996, pela PolyGram. Logo depois lançou os discos "Maravilha" e "Gente Boa", de 1997 e 1999, respectivamente, ambos pela mesma gravadora. Foram sucessos músicas como: "Pureza da paixão", "Auê", "Macarena","Lero-lero" e "Vermelho" (sensação do "Festival de Parintins" e do "Festival do Avante", em Portugal) e ainda as composições "Subir ladeira" e "Maravilha". Em 2000, lançou pela Abril Music o cd solo, "Timbalayê", no qual gravou clássicos como "Só quero um xodó", de Luiz Gonzaga e outras como "Como alcançar uma estrela", de Miltinho e Edilberto. Com este trabalho apresentou-se pelo interior do Estado da Bahia e demais capitais brasileiras. Ainda em 2000, a convite do produtor Rildo Hora, participou do disco "Casa de samba 4", no qual interpretou, ao lado de Bebeto, a composição "O meu amor chorou" de Luiz Marçal Neto. During the following years, he recorded 10 other albums integrating the band. In 1996, he left the band Cheiro de Amor and left for a solo career, becoming one of the main attractions of the off-season carnivals in Brazil and abroad, such as the first carnival held in Mexico in the city of Cancun - "The Carnacancun" . His first solo CD, "Marcia Freire", was released in 1996 by PolyGram. Soon after launched the "Wonder" disc and "Good People", 1997 and 1999, respectively, both on the same label. Successes were songs like "Pure Passion", "Aue", "Macarena", "Lero-Lero" and "Red" (feeling of "Parintins Festival" and "Avante Festival" in Portugal) and also the compositions "Up the hill" and "Wonder". In 2000, launched in April by the Music solo cd, "Timbalayê" in which he recorded such classics as "I just want a sweetheart," Luiz Gonzaga and others like "How to achieve a star" by Milton and Edilberto. This work was presented by the State of Bahia and other Brazilian cities. Also in 2000, at the invitation of producer Rildo Time, participated in the album "Casa Samba 4", in which he played alongside Bebeto to the composition "My love cried" Luiz Marcal Neto.
