Alfândega é a banda cuja sonoridade vai do soft ao hard,confeccionada com vigor poético e formação clássica de rock’nroll : guitarra,baixo e bateria. As letras de suas músicas expressam esse fazer poético e falam das diversas matizes do sentimento que existe no dia-a-dia de seus componentes: amor,esperança,indignação,etc. Daí o nome da banda,Alfândega , o lugar por onde passam os fatos cotidianos e os sentimentos por eles gerados que são percebidos e transformados em produtos musicais. A história do Alfândega tem início no final de 1988, quando Carlos Henrique,estudante de arquitetura e Rômulo Tavares,estudante de educação artística conheceram-se na Escola de Música da UFRN.Além de arquitetura, Carlos também estudava violino e Rômulo violão. Como tinham objetivos musicais em comum resolveram formar a banda.Para a bateria foi convidado Pedro Queiroga, também estudante de Educação Artística.Em seguida, foram convidados Arthur Winston,estudante do curso de Física para a guitarra-solo e Gileno José de Engenharia Elétrica para o baixo. Gileno que hoje ensina no CEFET de Mossoró não permaneceu na banda, mas participou de uma fase marcante dela. A influência do rock nacional e internacional dos anos 80 foi muito forte no primeiro momento da banda. Grupos que cantavam utopias sociais e rock de protesto como U2, THE POLICE, MIDNIGHT OIL,BAUHAUS,BEATLES,PARALAMAS DO SUCESSO e artistas como Caetano Veloso entre outros eram interpretados dentro da ótica Alfandegária. Mas foi a vocação para a música autoral o que pautou os primeiros ensaios e os caminhos a serem percorridos pela banda. No princípio, as parcerias se davam basicamente entre Carlos e Rômulo,além deles comporem isoladamente também. Ainda na primeira fase que vai até 94, a banda tocou com Chico Science e Mundo Livre num show em Recife, abriu shows para o Biquine Cavadão e Engenheiros do Hawai; fez shows autorais no Palácio dos Esportes e no Teatro Alberto Maranhão ,em Caicó e em Campina Grande. De 95 ao ano 2000 a Alfândega esteve parado.Em 2001 Carlos Henrique reuniu alguns amigos músicos e fez uma apresentação no festival MADA, anunciando o retorno da banda que se daria em breve. No mesmo ano a formação original retomou os ensaios e selecionou 14 músicas para serem gravadas. Foi com o apoio da Lei Municipal de incentivo à cultura que o CD foi gravado, tendo a participação do Coral Madrigal da UFRN, da cantora portuguesa Ana Barbara Baptista, da cantora israelense Meira Asher e dos músicos Eri Araújo (trompete),Franklin Nogvaes (teclados),Marco França (piano e teclados) e Jorge Lima (direção,percussão e efeitos) . Customs is the band whose sound goes from soft to hard, made with poetic force and classical training rock'nroll: guitar, bass and drums. The lyrics of his songs express this poetic and speak to the various shades of feeling that exists in the day-to-day components: love, hope, anger, etc. Hence the name of the band, Customs, the place through which the daily facts and feelings generated by them that are perceived and transformed into musical products. The history of the Customs begins at the end of 1988 when Carlos Henrique, architecture student and Romulo Tavares, art education student met at the Music School of Architecture UFRN.Além, Carlos also studied violin and guitar Romulo. In the beginning, the partnerships gave basically between Charles and Romulus beside them compose alone too. Still in the first phase that goes up to 94, the band played with Chico Science and the Free World in a show in Recife, he opened for the Biquine Cavadão and Hawai Engineers; made picture shows the Palace of Sports and Theatre Alberto Maranhão in Caico and Campina Grande. 95 to 2000 Customs was parado.Em 2001 Carlos Henrique met some musicians friends and made a presentation at MADA festival, heralding the return of the band that would take place soon. In the same year the original training resumed rehearsals and selected 14 songs to be recorded. It was with the support of the Municipal Law to encourage culture that the CD was recorded, with the participation of the Choir Madrigal UFRN, the Portuguese singer Ana Bárbara Baptista, Israeli singer Meira Asher and musicians Eri Araújo (trumpet), Franklin Nogvaes ( keyboards), Marco France (piano and keyboards) and Jorge Lima (direction, percussion and effects).
