Em 1990 lançaram o primeiro álbum, “Strap It On”. [Creditos: maynardfan1]

Were discovered by Tom Hazelmeyer and contractors for their label Amphetamine Reptile Records, releasing his first single ( "Born Annoying " ) in the same year . In 1990 released their first album, " Strap It On" . Helmet was considered a band with clever lyrics , and his " common / clean" look surprised many people , an antithesis to the stereotypical look of heavy rock bands . Their sound is characterized by riffs repetitive guitars tuning Drop D ( D ) Drop C # ( D flat ) and Drop C ( doh ) . 's Guitar sound is highly distorted and choruses use guitar effects ( "guitar feedback waves" ) . Hamilton is considered one of the most innovative guitar 90s. The international success of the group came in 1992 , after signing with Interscope Records . The first release was the acclaimed super gold album "In The Meantime " with the hit " Unsung " leading the rock charts . After the release and tour for the album " Betty " 1994 Rob Echevarria , then guitarist at the time, left the band to join the band Biohazard . In 1997 they recorded the album " Aftertaste " as a trio and called Chris Traynor to play guitar on tour that same album. Unfortunately this tour proved to be one of the last of the Helmet , because soon decided to separate. Asked about the end of the band , Hamilton replied : " 9 years , 1600 shows, 5 albums and we find it hard to look at each other ."
