é uma banda estadunidense de rock formada pelo guitarrista (nascido na Inglaterra), pelo vocalista , pelo baixista e pelo baterista . A banda, formada em 1984, teve no baixo até 1991. O nome Living Colour, ao contrário do que muitos pensam, não foi escolhido por causa da cor da pele de seus integrantes (todos negros); foi inspirado em uma “vinheta” da rede de TV : “The following program is brought to you in living colour” (parecido com “O programa seguinte é trazido até você em cores vivas”). Os três instrumentistas, todos eles já concluindo seus estudos de música, conhecem Corey e resolvem formar uma banda, por volta de 1985, tendo Reid como líder. O grupo começa a se apresentar em clubes e bares underground de Nova Iorque. Desde o começo apresentam uma música com muitas influências, entre elas o, , , , e o . Living Color is an American rock band formed by guitarist Vernon Reid (born in England), vocalist Corey Glover, bassist Doug Wimbish and drummer William Calhoun. The band, formed in 1984, had Muzz Skillings on bass until 1991. The name Living Color, contrary to what many think, was not chosen because of the color of the skin of its members (all black); was inspired by a “vignette” from the NBC TV network: “The following program is brought to you in living color” (similar to “The following program is brought to you in bright colors”). The three instrumentalists, all of them already completing their music studies, meet Corey and decide to form a band, around 1985, with Reid as leader. The group begins to perform in underground clubs and bars in New York. Since the beginning they have presented a song with many influences, among them, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk, Funk and Jazz. The band made a big impact on their performances; mainly because they are all black, for their mixed music and for Reid's highly technical and fast guitar solos. On one of his shows, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger was among the audience. He was so impressed that it helped them to get a contract with Epic Records. This contract resulted in the release of the acclaimed Vivid in 1988, which reached the sixth place on the North American charts (Jagger, in addition to winning the contract with the label, also produced this Album). The highlights of this album are the tracks Cult of Personality and Open Letter (to a Landlord), which won two music videos that were widely shown on American MTV.
